Critics Pick
Best dance performance: Dirty Pretty

Atlanta's dance scene teems with modern and contemporary companies vying for recognition, but with each new showcase, Zoetic Dance Ensemble sets the standard. Last fall's DIRTY PRETTY was a mishmash of humor, technical expertise and thoughtful choreography. The production played to all the dancers' strengths: Each kick and leap executed in Dirty Pretty exuded the theatricality Atlanta has come to expect from Melanie Lynch-Blanchard’s modern company. While the performance exercised the recent trend of video and photo projections, the bathtub, silk screens and other quirky choices were pure Zoetic. The melding of gritty movements and set pieces with beautiful music solidified the show as a jewel in Atlanta’s treasure chest of cultural riches. www.zoeticdance.org.
